"13 Years"
I am lying on my bed staring at the stars and the crescent moon at my window. I slowly close my eyes and begin dreaming........
Thirteen years from now, I am 29 years old woman wearing my corporate attire sitting on my hi-tech chair while having my coffee on my own office in a big company that I owned and manage. I'm staring at my huge glass window looking at the beauty of nature. The dancing waves of the ocean and the shimmering sand that looks like diamonds catch my attention. I can't imagine that I passed all the troubles in my adventure 13 years ago and I successfully achieved my dreams. In the year 2025, I have already my own family, my husband and my cute son. I am a successful business woman. I have my own company and restaurants. I am leaving with my family with happiness, contentment and with the will of God.
I opened my eyes and sigh. What a wonderful dream I have. All I want is to have a peaceful life in the future.
I am not sure what would be my life after thirteen years but I assure and I will strive hard to achieve success.

Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festival
The yearly Kannawidan Ylocos Festival of Ilocos Sur showcases the spirit of the Ilocano Child. Vigan City is the venue of Kannawidan Festival.
VIVA VIGAN!! KANNAWIDAN FESTIVAL!!
This festival, celebrated on January 29 to February 5. It highlights Ilocos food, arts, trade, crafts, and products.
Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and unique culture that are to be preserved for the next generations because it is observed that many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano culture are not familiar to the younger generations already. Children of today are paying more attention to the modernand novelty dances they seen on the television than the traditional ones. There is also a need to evaluate the different products of the different municipalities and the agricultural products and livestock of the farmers and fisher folks. Because of this, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur conceived a festival that will highlight these culture and traditions and attract local and foreign tourists as well. They call it the KANNAWIDAN Ylocos Festival, it is also a time to commemorate the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province since it was separated on February 3, 1818.
The celebration was opened by a celebrated mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral followed by a procession of the patron saints of the 40 parishes and images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the province’s capital city. This shows the deep rooted religiosity of the Ilocanos. Rev. Fr. Roque Reyes who officiate the mass articulated in his homily that this festivity is the time to thank the Almighty not only for the abundance He showered for the province but also the rich heritage of the place including the strong ties among the Ilocano families.
Witnessing all this makes one realize the beauty and dignity of Ilocos culture and people. We should be proud of our Ilocano culture.
The festival not only brings us takes one back to the roots; it also enables one to look into the future through art created by people. Their art speaks of their belief in the beauty of the world as gift from the Creator. Their songs and dances outshine any sadness this present world has thrown at them.
